There resided in my yard 2 very fragrant shrubs
and they both flowered at the same time
so I was never sure which contributed
all the smell.
I accidently killed one of them (a daphne) and
now the sarcococca or sweet box
is the one that smells up the yard.
In this photo you can see the tiny black berries the shrub produces.
I've been told the berries can produce baby plants but mine
have never done this - instead they root in water - I bring
the sweetly fragrant stems into the house and
wow what a treat it is, anyway some of the
stems root. They are always slow growing
this way but I have new shrubs and that's
what I like.
